Credit Union Receives Top Honors at the 2015 Global Banking Innovation Awards

Nusenda Credit Union, the largest not-for-profit cooperative in New Mexico with more than 150,000 members, has been named the Most Innovative Community-Based Banking Organization at the 2015 Global Banking Innovation Awards hosted by BAI-Infosys Finacle. The credit union received this honor yesterday at an awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada for its work in creating products, making investments, and delivering services to meet its community’s most pressing needs. It also received the Innovation in Societal and Community Impact Award, an honor designated for organizations that have designed or enhanced products and services to meet the needs of customers with special circumstances.

“We are honored to have received this recognition at the Global Banking Innovation Awards,” said Terry Laudick, CEO of Nusenda Credit Union and Chairman of the Board for Nusenda Foundation. “Nusenda Credit Union strives to make a difference in our communities through unconventional partnerships and improved access to much-needed products and services. We are grateful for this prestigious recognition as International innovators within the financial services industry.”

Nusenda Credit Union was selected for these honors due to the credit union’s work in developing programs like Co-Op Capital, a collaborative financial product used to widen access to capital for low-income entrepreneurs. The credit union was also recognized for their programs Powering Success and Parent University, which create new, sustainable models to improve student retention and graduation by combining financial education and assistance from multiple resource points. Nusenda Credit Union was also recognized for their stewardship of various programs in the community, including developing new access points to capital and embedding financial literacy into several entrepreneurship and innovation projects for the City of Albuquerque.

The BAI-Infosys Finacle Global Banking Innovation Awards are hosted each year during the BAI Retail Delivery conference, an annual premier retail banking event for professionals of the financial services industry. More than 250 nominations were submitted from 34 countries, with 39 finalists in nine different category awards. BAI Retail Delivery provides financial institutions with the resources and guidance to make smarter business decisions by offering greater clarity regarding key industry issues.
