Nusenda Credit Union
Nusenda Credit Union, headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M., is one of the state's largest credit unions, serving more than 230,000 members in over 20 branches, through our call center, and online through internet and mobile services. As a non-for-profit financial cooperative, we’re more interested in our members’ financial well-being than in our profits. But that’s just the beginning of our give-back philosophy.
We participate in making our community a better place to live, work, and play. Every year, we have a direct impact on the social and economic health of state’s communities, investing in our members and fellow New Mexicans; as well as in innovations and education to build an exciting future for generations to come.
In 2017, between Community Rewards® and Earn Your Return member dividends, Nusenda distributed more than $10 million to members and their communities in both financial and in-kind support; in the last decade, Nusenda’s commitment to New Mexico tops $42 million.
Being a Nusenda member is different than typical banking experiences because we operate as a cooperative financial institution, solely for their benefit. Nusenda is also owned and controlled by our membership and is guided by seven cooperative principles.
Nusenda’s desire to help members — so that they in turn can take care of the things that matter to them — also conveys into our workplace philosophies. We strive to help our team of more than 500 employees feel engaged in their work, knowing that it’s not all about profits.
Our award-winning benefits and retirement packages include professional development and career growth opportunities, tuition reimbursement, wellness programs, and comprehensive medical coverage; plus a 100 percent employer-paid pension plan, and short- and long-term disability and life insurance.
Nusenda employees also get the opportunity to give back to their communities in meaningful ways through volunteer service. An example is at Nusenda’s inaugural Community Day, 2017, where 43 percent of our workforce volunteered at five community organizations in Taos, Albuquerque, and Socorro.
